A Sage Timberline Estimating database is made up of several files. This is important to remember if you are planning on moving or copying the database to a different location. It is better that you use Timberline’s File Tools application to move or copy it instead of Windows Explorer. It’s free and should be on your program menu list.
Another thing that is a little different about Sage Timberline Estimating is that every time you start the program it loads the estimate and database you were working with last. Because it remembers your estimate and database you last used, users tend not to remember the location of their database and sometimes if you close a database it is hard to find later especially when each database is made up of several files. So, here’s how you find the database. In Windows Explorer, do a search for database file pei.dat, then look at the description and date of the file for the one that best fits the description and modified date of the database you are looking for. Take note of the directory path and now you can open it within Timberline Estimating and browsing to the location.
